Tree Services

Tree Removal

Removing a tree may be necessary for a number of reasons:
  • Tree is dead in part or whole.
  • Mechanical damage to trunk or roots that has made the tree unsafe.
  • Internal decay within trunk structure.
  • Tree is too large for the area and appropriate pruning cannot be done.
  • Soil erosion has destabilized roots.
  • Tree roots or trunk are damaging infrastructure such as driveway, deck, fence, foundation or drainage.
We have the the experience and skill to complete this type of work safely and with no property damage. Debris is chipped and your yard left clean.

Pruning

Proper pruning can enhance aesthetics and maintain a healthy tree; improper pruning can leave a tree mishapen and needing annual attention.

There most common reasons to prune include:
  • Maintain health and appearance
  • Reduce risk of failure
  • Control size
  • Train young trees for structure and less future maintenance
  • Fruit production
  • Light
  • Corrective/restorative

Hedge Trimming

We offer hedge trimming as well as major hedge reduction. Depending on the species, time of year and present condition of your hedge, we'll offer maintenance options that best suit your goals and your tree's health.
Arboririst Reports & Consulting

Consulting

If you need an experienced and educated opinion, our arborist consulting services are a cost effective way of getting the facts and alternatives for your particular situation.

If we provide consultation, we will not bid on any work recommended, that way you know you're getting an unbiased professional opinion.

Arborist Reports

Depending on organizational, municipal, regional or provincial regulations, arborist reports may be necessary for a variety of reasons. Included within the regulatory mandates of these bodies are trees meeting certain criterion such as location (creek corridors, slopes, and covenant areas), tree diameter (depending on municipality), tree species (in North Vancouver Yew trees over 25cm are protected), and development restrictions. An arborist report and protection plan may need to be in place before permits are issued.

After a detailed site and tree evaluation, a report is prepared according to your requirements and/or specifications. Please note: We will not report falsely on a tree for any reason.

Tree Risk Assessment

Trees are valuable assets providing many benefits when properly maintained, but conversely, they can be serious liabilities when ignored, or worse, improperly cared for.

Coast Arborist conducts detailed tree risk assessments using best practices, International Society of Arboriculture guidelines, and over 20 years of practical experience working with urban trees in both private and municipal settings.

We will tell you if your tree is a risk or a hazard and offer mitigation options, as removal isn't always necessary.

Planning and Management

A proactive approach to risk assessment and tree management is socially and economically responsible. We will help you plan and implement a strategic care program that fits your needs and budget so that your trees and green spaces maintain their aesthetic, functional, and economic value.
